Morrissey: The UK ‘Doesn’t Need’ the Useless Royal Family
Morrissey has blasted the Royal family as “benefit scroungers” and, rather unsurprisingly, has declared that he won’t be watching the upcoming royal wedding.
As the UK — or some parts of it, at least — prepares to revel in the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday, April 29, Morrissey was predictably less than enthused about the event.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4 (via BBC News), the former Smiths frontman talked about his nickname for Middleton — “Kate Muddleton” — and took time to lament the British monarchy.
“Why would I watch the wedding?” he said. “I couldn’t take any of that seriously. I don’t think the so-called Royal family speak for England now, and I don’t think England needs them.”http://xml.channel.aol.com/xmlpublisher/fetch.v2.xml?option=expand_relative_urls&dataUrlNodes=uiConfig,feedConfig,entry&id=691977&pid=691976&uts=1273167996http://www.popeater.com/mm_track/popeater/music/?s_channel=us.musicpop&s_account=aolpopeater,aolsvc&omni=1&ke=1http://cdn.channel.aol.com/cs_feed_v1_6/csfeedwrapper.swfGabourey Sidibe attends The American Cancer Society’s Choose You luncheon on May 5th in New York City.oKExp.start(“popeater3-popeater_music_popscene”);
